“Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet."  Roger Miller

It has been raining here for days.  Actually it seems like it has been raining for months.  I love a rainy day but I am learning that I am not a fan of day after day of rain. But then I saw the above quote which reminded me that although I can't change the weather, I can change how I react to it. I can see this time as a great opportunity to huddle down with a blanket, a book, and a special cup of coffee.  I can use this time to create a special place to write or to meditate.  On my vision board for this month I have a beautiful picture which says create a quiet sanctuary.  I think of my home in this manner but there are little touches I have been adding week by week to really create this atmosphere.  A small bunch of flowers on the kitchen table, a lamp instead of overhead lights, and lots and lots of pretty journals to capture thoughts and take notes are just simple things I have done to add to the feeling I want to create in each room.

I remember how I used to love rain when I was little.  There was nothing that we loved better than jumping in puddles and seeing how big of a splash we could make.  So while I'm not outside splashing in puddles today, I'm inside still enjoying all the wonderful things a rainy day can bring. It is amazing how just by changing our thoughts we can change how we feel. Thank you Roger Miller for giving me the inspiration to do just that today.

Each Thursday I share something that brought me joy during the week.  This week I received numerous Facetime calls from my young grandsons.  Each call brought with it three smiling faces.  It was a perfect way to end the day and to capture special moments filled with joy. What brought you a special moment of joy this week?

When you share your dreams and your talent with the world, magic happens. Let the magic begin!
                                                                                                                                Ginny

i so enjoyed this read and completely agree that each day rain or shine is what you make of it. Today I got a surprise visit from little Gracie and though it was short, it's joy it brought will last a long time!

I love the colors of this painting. I have always loved the rain and when we get it more days than I'd like, I too turn it around and take advantage of making art in bright and happy colors! My moment of joy came when my son called to say he had a phone interview for a job that went really well. Knowing that places are reaching out to him has given him confidence that he will find a job soon and that makes me grateful and joyful.

It's raining a lot here too! And I have similar feelings to it. I loved to walk in the rain and as a child I played with my best friend in the small lakes that began to appear in certain places :-)
It was lovely to read your blog post today! My special moment of joy was my son, who was home on a visit, telling me and my husband that he loves us, while we were out walking.
Happy PPF

I'm so glad to see you are still painting -- this one has such a beautiful blending of colors and lines. As for rain, we are desperate for some here, as our drought continues into a fourth year. I will dance in the rain when it finally shows up. Thanks for stopping by my blog, it's always great to hear from you!

I agree about the rainy days, but add GLOOMY to the list of descriptive words for the weather in my area. It really affects me and so, what you said in your post is very helpful. Since I had to really stop and THINK about what brought me joy this week, I believe I need to focus more on the "things that bring me joy" :~)

Let's see: the birds eating my feeders, the sunset last night (gorgeous colors), the feeling I have after working out, learning I actually like brusselsprouts:~), laughing at my cat running in and out of a grocery bag....Well, that's enough!

My favorite rainy day quote is this one:

“Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...It's about learning to dance in the rain.” ~ Vivian Green

Happy day to you, Ginny!
