Friday's Special Moment of Gratitude

My challenge to paint a sky a day continues.  I have not completed a picture each day but I have worked on something so I think that I will let that count.  Since I created the challenge, I can change the rules as I go.  I am having fun working on each painting and that is definitely one of my goals.  This is a really loose painting.  I am trying to decide whether to take a drawing class this summer.  I thing it is something that I need and would enjoy.  If anyone has a recommendation for a great online class, I would love to know what you have enjoyed.

It's almost Friday so it is time to share what I am grateful for this week.  Tonight I went to watch my middle grandson graduate from 4 year old kindergarten.  The children were adorable and I loved every minute of it.  I taught kindergarten many years ago and I know how much hard work goes into a performance like that.  I know how much the teachers plan and worry and want things to go just right.  But with four and five year olds you just never know.  Tonight one little boy decided to make a really cute but spontaneous gesture after receiving his diploma which got a big laugh.  The next twenty boys decided to add a gesture or two or their own.  My seven year old grandson could not wait to see what they were going to do next and was completely disappointed if they just hugged their teacher after getting their diploma.  So this week I am glad that I was Nana having a great time in the audience enjoying every minute of the whatever those kids decided to do.  I have been on that stage never knowing what was going to happen next.  I would not give anything for the years I taught, they were wonderful, but tonight it felt just right being able to just sit back and enjoy the show.  It has taken me a long time to adjust to being retired but I think I am finally there and for that I am very grateful.

When you share your talent and dreams with the world, magic happens.  Let the magic begin.

That sounds like a marvelous concert/ graduation... I went to a children's theatre production that Phantom had been the writer on this week and it was fabulous as well with the audience getting involved in magnificently unpredictable ways... such fun though it did make me miss teaching for a time... mind you I got over itr pretty quick when I got to spend the next day int he studio rather than in the classroom... and for that I am grateful...xx

Wonderful reds in your sky today:) Sounds like a great graduation, I know how spontaneous they can be at that age on a daily basis as I have a 5 year old myself! HPPF

I'm not sure about drawing classes, but for painting the ones from Chris Cozen and Julie Prichard in "the land of lost luggage"are really good, and of course the one from Flora Bowley. Can totally recommend both!

such a soft and lovely painting Ginny. Congrats to your little grandson. My hats go of to the teachers. Thru out my son's yrs. in elementary school I was a room mom and I saw first hand what teachers must go thru. Enjoy your retirement!

You are such a lovely and peaceful soul I can totally see you being a wonderful Kindergarten teacher!! The kids are precious and it's always a joy to watch them perform. This painting is stunning and yes you can change the rules....ultimately you just wanted to force yourself to paint right? I bet you are an amazing nana!! Thanks for sharing!

I am so grateful for - just 16 days until I complete my 31st year of teaching and head into the chapter called "retirement".
I am so grateful for - knowing that in a couple of weeks, I will be watching my grandson "graduating" kindergarten and I, too, will bask in the joy of it all
I am so grateful for - Ginny - once a friend, always a friend

I love it, love it, love it. . . I have been trying and trying to paint a sky and what you did is fantastic. I hadn't thought of putting in so many colors. Beautiful. Blessings, Janet PPF

Your sky paintings have been a tonic for me this month - it has been the cloudiest May on record here in Minnesota with many straight days of rain. Thank you for uplifting my heart with your many beautiful sky-scapes.
I am a former Kindergarten teacher and was smiling at your graduation story - you just never know what they will do is right on!
"Sit back and enjoy the show" is a good philosophy.
