What Kind of Holiday Would You Like to Create?

What I love most about the Kaizen-Muse way of thinking is that it works not only when you are creating a painting or writing a book but that it helps me to create the life I want to live each and every day.  I love the holiday season but that wasn't always the case. There was a time in my life that it meant constant hustle and bustle.  Worrying about decorating and cooking and getting the perfect gift for everyone just came with the season.. By the time it was over I was exhausted just like everyone else I knew.  Now, I look forward to it.

Before the holidays arrive I take time to visualize and feel what I hope the holidays we be like for us.  Luckily for me we like things simple.   Our house is very simply decorated and expresses who we are and how we live our life.  I love playing Christmas music so I begin to listen to it early. I have tiny trees that are fun and easy to decorate.  Finding the right gift for people I love is important but shopping is not something I like so I do it in short increments in small family owned stores.  I love to fill the house with wonderful smells and bright lights. Spending time with family and friends is always on the list.

Each day I do something to make the season special.  It doesn't have to be big. It may be a drive around our neighborhood to see the lights or going to a Christmas concert at the local college.  It may be coffee with a friend I haven't seen since summer or a cup of a special holiday tea.

As you begin the holiday season, take a minute to visualize how you want it to look, sound, smell, and feel this year. What simple steps can you take now, to make the season one that you enjoy.  Do you have traditions that you never want to give up?  Are there things that you have done year after year but have now lost their meaning for you?  What would make this season extra special for you and your family?  For each of us the answers will be different. But bringing awareness into this area of your life can make the difference between a holiday season that is over before you know it and one in which you enjoy each and every moment.  Making changes does not happen overnight. It begins one small step at a time.  What step could you take today to make this holiday season the one that you have always dreamed of?

When you share your dreams and your talent with the world, magic happens.  Let the magic begin!
                                                                                                                                   Ginny

Since Chanukah starts the day before Thanksgiving this year, I've already started my planning and organizing. I'm trying to focus on family and fun, and not worry about the gifts. The fun part is combining Chanukah and our Thanksgiving dinner -- a once in a lifetime event.

Ginny I love this Winter painting, I remember seeing this before, it's quite a favorite! I too have started up the Christmas music early, it's so good to go with what we love, acknowledge what is important and then enjoy! I wish you well Ginny, keep having fun!

I don't like winter but I love this winter landscape. It looks so peaceful and the colours are so nice and fresh it even would make me want to go outside when it's cold .... ;-)
For me the holiday-season is all about family, and doing things together. We stopped the whole tradition of buying presents and just enjoy time together, instead of running arond like crazy trying to get gifts for everyone. It just stresses everyone out, and is in my opinion not what Christmas is about ....

First off I love love love your winter painting it's gorgeous!! A favourite scene!! My Christmases were like yours verbatim. Now we have simpler holidays. We don't exchange family gifts which is wonderful instead we coupon for several months and then give it to those in need. We enjoy the lights and music too...very early...our trees are up. One big, one small. Less is more now. We go out for dinner and a Christmas movie...that is our tradition for years! We buy a few gifts for close friends and kids! It's so nice...we all agree it's perfect for us three adults! Smart post!
