The ABCs of Living a Creative Life - Openness

Whether you are living a creative life or creating the life you want to live being open to new experiences will enhance not only what you do but how you feel. It's easy to become comfortable with what you are doing but exciting to try new things.
When I mentioned in yoga that open was the word I was focusing on this week my very supportive instructor used it over and over again as we went through our poses. It always feels wonderful to open my arms and my heart to the world not only in yoga but in every part of my life.

For many of us our daily work does not always allow for openness.  There are rules and protocols we are expected to follow.  But in our creative lives or in the lives we create we can venture out and try new things.  It can be the colors we use in our paintings, the food we prepare and eat or the places we visit.  It can be the new and interesting things we learn about to inspire our creativity or the people we talk to that have differing opinions.

How open are you to new ideas?  When was the last time you tried something new just for the fun of it?  Being open and curious enhances our creativity.  Is there something you have always wanted to do?  Is there something you are curious about?  Maybe this is the week to take that very first step and to open yourself up to new ideas and opportunities. It doesn't have to be a big step. Something as simple as asking, "What if....?" and then waiting for the answer can open up a whole new world.  What if you opened yourself up to something new this week, what do you think would happen?

When you share your dreams and your talent with the world, magic happens.  Let the magic begin!
                                                                                                                                          Ginny

Another lovely thought provoking post as always Ginny. It's always good to be open to new ideas and thoughts as it is so easy to get bogged down in tradition and 'how things have always been done' - I think that is the cause of many of the world's problems today. This week, I'm reluctantly open to the fact that it may take much more time for my sore arm to heal sufficiently before I can paint again. Not something I want to be open to, granted, but there's not much I can do about it so I may as well embrace catching up on my reading in the meantime!

Lovely piece, we do tend to get stuck in our routines, good to try something new.

Wow, that quote grabbed me. I hope you're enjoying the Yoga:~)

I agree it's important to be open. It's also sometimes a bit scary, but only you walk through the door, you're bound to learn something.

The picture is great. I love the yellow and how it merges into the greens and blues. We got from visiting my daughter in England and this pictures reminds of how some of the fields on the hills looked in England:~)

Beautiful the way the colors just flow smoothly and gracefully into each other.

I LOVE the soft graduations of colors and vibrancy in this one Ginny!
I am always open to something new-and so far each time have been wonderfully surprised and very happy, even despite some reservations at first. Because of being open (pretty much involving a spiritual path), I have seen the Dalai Lama, I have seen the Happy Swami several years in a row now at a local Hindu temple, I participate in drumming circles. Looking forward to seeing what new door opens up next:) Have a lovely weekend dear Ginny.

This is a lovely piece. Very relaxed. I like how you can almost see a path meandering through, drawing your eye.
