Sunday's Quote and Reflection

"I found out there weren't too many limitations if I did it my way."   Johnny Cash

I was really surprised when I saw who said the above quote. I thought it was Frank Sinatra because of his song My Way but it doesn't matter who said it, it was the perfect quote for me to see this morning.

Someone asked me if I find the quote first and then the picture or select the picture and find a quote to go with it.  There really isn't any special way that I choose what goes with what.  Today it was interesting how the combination came together.  I really like the above painting. To me it looks like the ocean (which was my intention).  I know it is very loosely painted and is open to interpretation which I think is fine.  I love when people see all different things in my work.  As long as it touches them in some way, I am happy.  So when my husband, who likes very realistic work, didn't see anything, I was disappointed. I began to doubt myself which we all do from time to time.  I began to wonder whether I really should put this painting up on my blog today.  So I closed the blog, had a cup of coffee, and came back.  When I went to my Weebly site the quote that appeared was the one above.  "I found out there weren't too many limitations if I did it my way."  What a perfect quote for me to see today.  I realized that if I don't post my painting I am limiting myself.  If I don't share my painting, someone who might enjoy it or be insired by it, won't get to see it.  So I decided to do it my way and share.

I know that I can't paint like anyone else.  I know that I can't please everyone and it's really hard if you try.  But knowing something and putting it into practice can be two different things.  I am pretty good about doing things my way although I am also known to be a people pleaser.  So the next time I start to put limitations on myself, I am going to step back and ask myself is is this how you want to paint or write or exercise, etc.  How do you want to do it?   I am pretty sure the answer will be loud and strong, "I am going to do it my way."  Won't you join me this week in living life your way?

Remember:  When you share your talent and dreams with the world, magic happens.  Let the magic begin.

Wow! I really see the ocean hitting up against the sky horizon.
Such rocky waves too. Perhaps, you had to be there! I love the ocean.
Sometimes my husband looks at my current piece/drawing/painting and says "uh huh" or "ok", rarely a huge stand up and clap!
I have to wait for my peeps in blog land to give it it's real due!
Even though I know he likes lots of what I do and says so.I think maybe he just doesn't want me to get a big head. ???

The colors, and movement in your painting ROCK!!!! I stand up and clap!

Beautiful! Really like how it's borderline abstract and so dreamy! <3

Very pretty! This reminds me of the ocean, with the fog rolling in off of it. So cool!

Beautiful piece of art. Like the emotion it evokes when one sits before it for a while.

I love that Johnny Cash quote - he was such an eloquent man really wasn't he? And it means you keep sharing your art too - yay!!

Thanks for linking up!

Happy Monday, Ginny! I love all three: the quote, the art, and the energy you bring to it. The "I am doing it my way" makes me want to sing, exactly as I sing. You inspire, once again!

I stopped by from the link up at ACLC today. Loved this! It's me to a tee. I too paint and have had such thoughts. I also can be a combo of people pleaser and a do it my wayer. :) Very easy to relate to and I love the painting. Nice Motion to it. It is expressive, and simple at the same time.

Great post and I am a big believer in doing it my way when it comes to painting... I had a great professor at art school who stressed every day that we find our own methods and what we love and it has stayed with me... I think you have a distinctive style... sorry I am late getting here this week.... have no clue where the time has gone...xx
