Martha Graham
I loved this quote the minute I read it. You could easily change the word dancer to writer, painter, photographer, teacher, student, etc. When I first read the quote I immediately began to wonder about my great passion. What is it? Do I have one? Then I realized that my great passion is that I love to learn. As a child I loved school. I was a quiet student but I loved going to school each day. As an adult that love of learning continued and I became a teacher. I wanted my students to know facts, etc.but I really wanted them to become life long learners. That sounds just like something we wrote in our school improvement plan each year but when I wrote it or said it I really meant it. My love of learning continues and it is what fuels each day. There is always something new to experience or read about or do. Getting older is not one of the things that I look forward to. But it is also something that happens whether I want it to or not. I just have to remember that no matter how old I get there will always be something new to learn and experience. There will always be something to be passionate about and that is what will keep me young forever!
I have a vision board on the wall in front of me and on it are the words discover my passion. Today I realized that I had discovered my passion many many years ago. I just didn't realize it.
