    William Blake

Yesterday when we got to the lake I walked just a little bit by myself.  As I stood on the bank I looked to my left and there stood a beautiful white duck.  I thought she would immediately move or swim away but to my surprise she stood quietly never moving.  I was able to take quite a few pictures and I really enjoyed the moment.

I have been taking lots of classes and workshops to become a better artist, a better, photographer or a better writer.  I am sure they all prepared me for this moment.  But in the moment the thing I was most grateful for was that I happened upon this spot at just the right time with my camera ready to capture the beauty that was in front of me.  Just as Blake said, there is a time to learn, a time to teach, and a time to enjoy.  Yesterday was a time to enjoy.  I hope that your week will be filled with unexpected moments that you will take the time to enjoy!

I wrote the above post several Sunday's ago.  When I was thinking of which picture I wanted to submit to to Kat Sloma's photo-heart connection, it was this one.  Everytime I think of that afternoon I think of how long I stood next to this beautiful duck just enjoying the peace and quiet.  There was something special in the way she was able to enjoy the moment and not be distracted by all of the activities swirling around her.  She was so calm and peaceful and a great reminder that no matter what is going on in the world around you, you can always find peace within if you allow yourself that quiet moment to reflect and just be.  I hope that everyone will have a wonderful month with lots of time to just "be."

Ginny, i love this photo! I totally understand what you mean about feeling grateful for being at the right place, at the right time. Amazing that the duck didn't swim away and you were able to capture this. So precious. Love the William Blake quote. Oh, and your PPF "shack on the lake" painting. You are really good with the blues... the skies, the lake. Have yourself a great week! xoxo

What a lovely moment and a beautiful photo. We have a duck pond close to where I live and there is a duck that looks just like yours. It's quie tame, too and always comes near us.

I believe it is from that enjoyment and appreciation of the beauty set before us that creativity flows! The ducks are great - and so is the water! Beautiful shapes and reflections. PS: Thank you for your kind words on my blog- you made my day!!

Hello Ginny, a beautiful shot of that duck and the lovely ripples on the surface of the water. I love William Blake's quotation and it's so appropriate: a time to learn, a time to teach (or be taught) and a time to enjoy!
Animals and nature can really teach us everything about being in the moment and enjoying it to the full! Lovely observation!

The gift to "just be". It is a gift to oneself. In this case brought again to mind by such a sweet bird in a gentle whisper.
I think part of the reason I enjoy shooting photos is for the solitude and ability to lose myself in the time I am looking thru the camera. Great moment and image for PHC.
