Special Moments of the Week - Three Incredible Women

It is amazing how fast the week can go by. It is Friday the day I have set aside to share something that made me happy, feel good, smile or laugh. This week it was harder to find things to smile or laugh about.  With so many people suffering, it has been a difficult week.  But then I thought about three stories I heard of three different women who I felt were very strong and I thought I would share their stories with you.  These three women come from different generations but they have one thing in common a creative spirit and a sense of adventure.
The first is a young girl, the daughter of a friend, who is a senior in high school.  She is very artistic and loves to draw caricatures.  For her prom, she created her dress and her date's tuxedo entirely out of duct tape.  She also made all of the accessories, from top to bottom, for both of them.  It took her five months to complete the outfits which were incredible.  I admire her so much for being true to who she is, for honoring herself and her art, and for having so much fun doing it.  As one of her many fans said, "Look out Project Runway."
The second is the story of a good friend who is in her mid forties.  She loves animals and currently has nine rescue dogs.  She loves her dogs and takes incredible care of them.  One of the things she does to exercise them is to ride her ATV as they run beside her through the pasture and woods.  Several weeks ago the throttle on the ATV stuck and her choice was to go down a steep hill or hit a tree.  She chose the tree and was incredibly lucky that she was not permanently injured.  She broke her jaw,, knocked her bottom teeth loose, and was very bruised but yesterday was able to meet me for lunch.  The doctor told her that because she is so strong she has been able to heal very quickly.  She not only takes care of all of her dogs but also her horse that she has had for 32 years.  Laurie is an incredible painter and loves nature. I think there is something about being creative that makes us strong people.
The third is someone I have not met yet but is a friend of Laurie's. She came to help when Laurie was hurt.  Laurie said she was a huge help and is always very calm.  This lady is 74 and also loves horses.  She has 16 acres which she takes care of by herself.  She also takes care of her own horses as well as the horses she boards.  Again, she does this all by herself.  Another example of a strong woman. She says that people think she is crazy to have so much to take care of at this stage of her life but this is what she wants to do.  So this is what she will do.
It is always so inspirational  to meet, know, or hear about women who are confident, strong, and true to themselves and their dreams no matter how young or how old they are.
Please take a moment to leave a comment or share a story about something special that happened to you this week.  I would love to hear from you!!

I did see the young girl and her date in the around Canton magazine. I thought that was very creative and you're right so true to herself. Made me smile. Sorry about your friend hitting a tree with her ATV. Can't believe she met you for LUNCH the next day with a BROKEN JAW. Three incredible women!!!!

Ginny-thank you for including Abby in your blog - what an honor! You are an incredible testament to strength and resilience yourself, and I admire what you are doing for yourself. Sometimes I think we forget that strengthening ourselves allows us to benefit those around us even more. Keep the great blogs coming! -Beth

Ginny, Loved your blogs. Made me think of all the people I admire and my son and his wife came to mind. They handled the early arrival of our new grandson, Graham, so well and I know they were scared to death. You have a wonderful way with words.
