Remembering You

"Love yourself first and everything else falls into line."  Lucille Ball

When I was young my mother who looked and often acted just like Lucille Ball told me something very similar to the quote above.  I thought it sounded so selfish back then but now I know how right she was.  We have to love ourselves and take care of ourselves before we can take care of others.  The world is moving so fast and demands so much of us each day that it becomes hard to remember that self-care is the foundation that makes everything else possible. But remember we must. When was the last time you did something just for you?  Was it today?  Did you slow down and take a deep breath?  Did you sit outside and look at the sky or walk around the block going in a different direction?  Did you eat right or sleep in?  Did you read a book that inspired you or made you think or just took you to another time or place.  Did you laugh with your children or share a story with your husband?  Did you paint or dance or sing ?  It would be wonderful if we all had large blocks of time just for us and sometimes we do.  But if that is not possible just taking a few minutes here and there throughout the day still can make a difference.  Recognizing what makes us feel better and then planning how to incorporate that into our week can make a difference.

Living a creative life means designing your day so that it includes the things that are most important to you.  Living a creative life means being aware of what makes you happy.  It means thinking out of the box so you can do the things you want to do.  In order to live the life you want to live, you have to take care of yourself.  What can you do this week that you have been wanting to do but just haven't made time for?  Make that a priority.  Write it down.  Set a day and time that you will do it.  Then do it and enjoy the experience.

This week I am going to paint.  I am going to spend at least 15 minutes a day experimenting and playing with color.  I am just going to pick up a watercolor pencil and see what happens.  How about you?  What will you do to honor yourself?

When you share your dreams and your talent with the world, magic happens.  Let the magic begin!

Like giggles, I like the combination of colors, especially the purples in this picture. I love blue-purple. Oddly, I find it a soothing color. Not that I would paint a room with it, but looking at it is soothing to me:~)

As is your message...My latest thing is to sit outside with my husband on our porch in the morning and the evening. Yes, it is hot, but we have a fan which helps. The nice thing is it gives us a chance to touch base at the beginning of our day and the end of our day. I've grown to love the time. If he's not here, I do it anyway:~)

Happy day to you, Ginny.
