Rain Rain Go Away

Each Wednesday I share a Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching strategy.  Because the strategies are simple and really help to enrich each part of my life I love sharing them with others. This month I am also participating in Jamie and Shannon Ridler's Kickin It Old Skool Blogathon.  So the thought that kept rolling around in my mind was I have to combine the two on Wednesday,  I wonder how I will do that?  I don't like rules and I don't do terribly well if I have to do something - even if I'm the one saying, "I have to"  But when I say, "I get to"  the energy immediately shifts into something that feels positive.

So this morning "I get to" combine Jamie's prompt with my Kaizen-Muse strategy.  When you reframe or change the thoughts you are having from a negative to a positive the way you see and interact with the world changes also.  Things that once seemed overwhelming become fun or challenging.  Things that are not necessarily fun but a part of life become less of a chore.  I really don't like cleaning up the kitchen after dinner.  But I do it because I get to enjoy the way the room looks and I feel after everything is put away.

So now on to Jamie and Shannon's question.  What is the weather where you are?  For the next six days I get to enjoy the rain.  I get to wear my boots, carry my new umbrella, and listen to the raindrops on the roof.  I get to stay inside where it is nice and dry and use my new pastels.  I get to do things I might not do if the sun was shining.

How about you?  What do you get to do today that is special because of the weather?

When you share your dreams and talent with the world, magic happens!  Let the magic begin today.
                                                                                                                            Ginny

What a lovely way to reframe negative thinking. I'm going to try it. Today it is snowing where I live, but I am lucky to work from my home, so I can enjoy the snow through the window while staying warm and cozy.

Weeeeellll aren't you cleaver? ;-)
we will be experiencing the rain beginning later today and running through the weekend. I get to address Christmas cards, wrap presents, and make art!! I would probably be doing it regardless of the weather but yeah, it's gonna happen.
Have a terrific Wednesday!!

I needed this today. Thank you. I got a little crabby-pants about everything I have to do today, but I am going to try to reframe my thoughts. Thanks for this reminder. Personally, I love rainy days where I get to stay inside and play. Enjoy your new pastels!

One thing I've always loved about the rain when I'm out in it is being properly dressed...a big umbrella and rain boots. I haven't had rain boots since I was a child and every year I promise myself I'm going to get some because just the thought of standing in and wading through puddles fills me with bliss!

I love this life lesson and the idea of reframing "have to" into "get to." Very clever and I'm already applying the idea:~)

Regarding the weather, ours if varied. We get moments of sunshine and then clouds, but it's also very damp! I get to enjoy the warmth of the sun when it peeks out from the clouds. I also get to enjoy how the cloud cover makes the fall colors seem even more bright:~)

Love the reframe and how expansively it open things. And what a successful combination of blogging goals.

HI Ginny, I like your get to post. I didn't use those words but did turn my morning around when I got to live with out electricity for 7 hours.

I "get to" enjoy the cold and snow...brrr...And because of that, I "get to" snuggle under warm blankets with my puppy and kitties with a nice warm cup of tea. Keep dry!! :)

I *get to* wear many layers, because it is very cold here.
What a fun way to look at things :)

We will be having rain too in the next few days. I would rather have snow. I think I'm actually more productive when the weather isn't so nice, because when it is sunny, I would rather be outside.

And I got to translate and proofread today. I also got to give a driving lesson to my daugther and tonight, I get to read blogs and be creative. It's a great day!

I love your reframe to "get to" -- it does put a whole new perspective on things. I hope to remember to try it myself.

Well that was just the kind of advice I needed, tonight! I've been feeling quite overwhelmed with all the things on my plate this month. I'm going to bed now, but in the morning, I'm going to put on my "I get to" glasses and look at my to-do list again through their cheery lenses! Thanks for that!

I like the idea of reframing things, those rainy days can be so much fun, now to apply that reframing to other parts of my life. Great post.
