Making Life Interesting

The person you will spend the most time with in your life is yourself.
So you better try to make yourself as interesting as possible.  Pinterest

The above quote showed up in my inbox as a quote I might like from Pinterest this morning.  It was the perfect nudge I needed to get me moving again.  Traveling through this journey of grief and widowhood is not easy.  I don't write about it often but it is part of me every moment of every day.  But that is a blog post for another day.

As I began to ponder the quote above I realized that it is time to reassess where I am.  The awareness piece of living a creative life is very important.  We are always changing. Sometimes it is a big change that we have no control over while other times it is a change that we have made ourselves but have not yet fully embraced.  So I asked myself a question which hopefully will lead to an interesting answer.  "What would make my day/life/me more interesting?"  I've begun to think about this. I'm giving myself time to answer my question.  I may journal about it and see what appears.  I may make a collage or paint a picture to help me discover more about where I want to go and what I want to do.  A class might help. Talking to others may give me fresh ideas. And even if I don't get my answer right away doing all of these things can't help but make my life more interesting. So what about you?

We all spend a lot of time with ourselves.  What do you do to make yourself as interesting as possible?

When you share your dreams and your talent with the world, magic happens.  Let the magic begin!
                                                                                                              Ginny

HI Ginny,

Great post and some good food for thought. As you know my life is plenty interesting. I could wish for more quiet times.

Great post I hope when you're ready you will write about grief and how you've adjusted. It could help so many people. I find my life interesting in its simplicity probably because I'm a big non fiction reader! Others may not see me that way but I can always hold a good conversation even though it's not a top priority any longer. I am interested in so many things so life is always interesting to me...I learn something new every single day!

I can see how your painting this week is reflecting your grief. And however you cope know that you have love and support. Taking a class, journaling-all of the things you mentioned would be a good way to muddle through your feelings and thoughts. Love and hugs!

Lovely art to go with your meaningful quote! It may help that I am an introvert.

An interesting and thoughtful blogpost, Ginny. I like the idea of deliberately making our life more interesting. I think keeping a daily journal might help as we have to find interesting things to write down in it. But sometimes the most interesting things we do are the quiet ones, like painting and gardening and reading a book.
Your painting is so dramatic, I like it very much. It would be a lovely painting to have on the wall as it would look different in different lights and different moods.
Hope you have a good week.

Dear Ginny, it is really very helpful to read your text. I never before thought of the possibility to find answers on certain questions about where to go and what to do in journaling or collageing or painting a picture to discover more about the topic. I think this is a wonderful method. Thank you so much for sharing these thoughts. I like your picture very much!

Thought-provoking post, Ginny! We certainly do spend more time with ourselves than with anyone else. Love your painted piece too.

"The person you will spend the most time with in your life is yourself. " - something that never occurred to me. I've always been focused on the statement you become who you spend the most time with. This is quite profound to me and has given me a lot to really think about over the next few days. Thank you for sharing this and your beautiful painting. :)
