Every place I looked today there were people and cars and lights and noise. Then after dinner I took the dogs out into the backyard and it was silent. When I looked up, the sky was a brilliant pink and dark blue. It was as though I had stepped into a different world. I have not taken time to paint all of this week but after seeing the sky, I knew that I had to hold the pastels in my had for just a minute. This painting does not look anything like what I saw but it was inspired by the beauty of the night.
Tonight was a great reminder that I need to take time during this busy time of year to step outside and look up into the sky or across the field or down the road. It was a reminder that there is beauty all around me but I have to take the time to stop and look and listen if I am going to enjoy it and be inspired by it.
Each Friday I take a minute to share what I am most grateful for. This week we took our grandsons to see a Christmas play. It is such a delight to see the world through their eyes. Santa was visiting and the boys were sure, or almost sure, that this was the real Santa Claus. I am sure that almost every Santa Claus is the "real" Santa Claus to them. This is a magical time of year. I love the decorations, and the lights, and the music. But most of all I love to hear the laughter of children as they delight in all of the special things the season has to offer. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful holiday season filled with joy and love and laughter!
When you share your dreams and your talent with the world, magic happens. Let the magic begin!
