Kickin It Old School - Jamie Ridler's Blogathon

Hi Everyone!  I am really excited to begin Jamie Ridler's Kickin It Old School Blogathon today.  I think it will be a great way to renew friendships with bloggers that I met years ago as well as meet new people.  One of the things I love most about blogging is the connections I have made with people all over the world.

If you are visiting from Jamie's site, then you already know that we started the month by posting a selfie.  I am one of those people who run and hide when the cameras come out but I've decided to put that fear aside and to start taking pictures each day until I am comfortable with the images I am able to take.  When I first started speaking in public it wasn't easy, when I began positing my paintings on the blog it certainly wasn't easy but I did it. I am actually looking forward to getting over the uncomfortable feeling I have when I post a picture.  So let the picture taking begin!

I do hope that you will visit often throughout the month.  It will be great to get to know you and learn all about what inspires your creativity each day.

When you share your talent and your dreams with the world, magic happens!  Let the magic begin today.
                                                                                                                                   Ginny

It's a lovely picture! I think it's interesting how many of us have said that we aren't comfortable with being in front of the camera.

Ginny! It's so good to see your face after years of looking at the photo with sunglasses on and only really knowing your voice (spoken and in writing). Such a delight to see you!

It looks like Jamie and Shannon are getting a lot of us to come out from under our shells, and I think that is just fantastic.

It's a pleasure to "meet" you. I'll be sure to stop by again.

By the way, the link does not lead back to Jamie's page...it takes you to someone else's blog with only one small post.

Lovely photograph. I too would rather be taking the photograph then being photographed. I need some new pictures, but have been putting it off. Maybe I'll get to it soon...

Lovely photo! And as someone who avoided cameras like the plague, I can attest to the value of a regular selfie practice. I started one this summer and it's made a huge difference in my life.

Hi Ginny, I smiled when you mentioned your discomfort with the camera. This morning, when I saw the first prompt, I cringed. But I do love a challenge, and like you, the thought of making new friends won over the discomfort of the picture taking.

I look forward to getting to know you through the month of December!

Such a beautiful portrait...and I've discovered that each time we share something of ourselves out here in the world, we become braver and more willing to take those risks!
