Happy New Year

I thought it would be fun to begin the New Year by writing and posting something on my blog.  Since this is the year of writing my book, I thought it would be appropriate to start off the year writing something at midnight.

Last year I chose a phrase for my word of the year.  It was Living Joyfully which has served me well.  I looked for joy each day and found it in the most surprising ways.  I am not ready to give up that phrase but I have added something to it.  This year’s phrase will be Living Joyfully with Courage and Confidence.  This was a year of learning about my new life.  Next year will be about moving forward with courage and confidence.  It will be a time to continue to try new things and to move out of my comfort zone more and more.  Writing a book will be just one of the new things that I will tackle with joy, with courage, and with confidence.

I have enjoyed choosing a word of the year.  It is something that I can go to when making a decision.  Will this (whatever this may be) bring more joy into my life?  Does this take courage?  If so, how can I do it anyway with confidence?  Small questions, just like small steps, can lead to a world filled with adventure and opportunities.

Do you choose a word to act as a touchstone?  If not, it may be something that you would like to try this year.  If you do, I would love to know what your word is.  The best thing about choosing a word is that you can always change it if it does not work for you or if you need to use something else.  Living a creative life and creating the life you want to live means you are in charge.  What a great way to begin the New Year.

I want to wish everyone a very happy New Year.  It will be wonderful to see what exciting adventures 2016 has in store for all of us.

When you share your talent and your dreams with the world, magic happens.  Let the magic begin!

Happy New Year, Ginny! I like the idea of you writing at midnight between the years.
Your flower is beautiful and reflects your choice of words.

This year my word came so easy about two weeks ago...I have yet to reveal it but I'll tell you it's "Improve" I'll elaborate more later! I always savour your blog because it inspires me so much! Your pastel piece perfectly represents your mantra with the colours and freedom of your strokes!

I love your mantra for this year! Words to truly live by!

I hope your year is filled with art, joy, confidence and courage!

I hope the words flow freely into you book!

Renee

Joy has been a theme throughout my life. I have had some hard things happen over the past year--I lost the love of my life just over a year ago. ((hugs)) I loved your post--and your artwork is beautiful.

beautiful painting Ginny! I love how you continued with last year's phrase giving it even more strength. I have been choosing a word the last few years by allowing it to present itself and 'speak' to me. It hasn't appeared yet so I'll just have to wait and see. Happy New Year - an here's to your published book!

What a beautiful splash of colour... which is much needed here today. It has hardly got light at all.
I did have a word last year but I'm struggling to remember it. I think it was 'create' because I was having difficulty fitting in my art. If it was that word it certainly worked because I did more artwork than ever before. Now I have to build on it.
I've also wanted to write a book since I was about 8 years old. Maybe one day I'll manage it. I look forward to hearing about yours.
Happy New Year and I wish you all the best with lots of creativity too.
