Tuesday night we did something that still makes me smile. My husband is in several bridge clubs and many of the men still play ball as well as cards. They told us we should come watch their over 50's slow pitch game so we did. It was so much fun to watch people doing what they love to do. Many of the men were in their seventies and had played since they were five. They made have had a hard time running or pitching or catching but they were having so much fun and were so supportive of each other. There were only two good runners so they got a lot of exercise running for their teammates. It was such a great reminder that you are never too young or too old to do what you love. Have a great week full of happy moments and smiles.
It is Friday and time to reflect on the things that made me smile or feel happy this week. As many of you know, this summer I have been trying to find new places or things to do that are close to home. On one of our recent rides we found another park with a meandering small brook that was really nice. In the fall the colors will be spectacular so it is a place that we can enjoy for free that just takes a few minutes to get to. Now we have three new places to visit and we are looking for more

Oh Ginny I LOVE this! I had planned to find local parks and such this summer as well, and never really got around to it. Fall may be the perfect time for me to explore. And I love your description of the men's ball game! Talent and youth are so overrated in our culture -- what could be better than enjoying what you're doing, whether you're "good" at it or not!?

I work from home and often find myself longing to get out of the house at the end of the day, so I've been searching my local area in the same way you describe. I've joined the YMCA, have some art galleries visits planned and, now that the weather's finally cooling a little, I think I'll start exploring for outdoor places too. Thanks for the inspiration and Happy Friday!

It's so great that you and your husband are discovering new places to enjoy nature. It's definitely good for our bodies and souls. I smiled reading about the baseball game, and how the guys are finding ways to continue to do what they love. Have a happy weekend!

I felt your happiness in this post. It's inspiring to see people wear their Joy on the outside ~ particularly when the pleasure is relatively 'simple'. I'm sitting out on my deck right now, hearing muted dinner conversation from the neighbours to the left, rustling leaves all around me and children's laughter in the pool from the neighbours to the right. It's lovely just to soak this in. Thank you for the reminder that happiness is there for those who desire to experience it!
