Friday's Special Moment of Gratitude

This has been a great week full of things to be grateful for.  The weather has been cold and gloomy but I always enjoy listening to the raindrops on the roof.  I am grateful that I live where I get to experience the four seasons.  Each season has something special to offer and I look forward to them all.
I have been painting in my gratitude journal a little each day.  This week for the first time I painted with acrylics.  I always use watercolors or watercolor pencils but this week I added acrylics. It really was long past the time I tried something new.  As is obvious I am a novice painter, but I love to paint.  Time goes swiftly when I paint and I loose myself in what I am doing. I did notice something interesting this week.  As I worked on the above painting, I asked myself and then wrote in my journal, " Should I embrace my childlike way of painting?"  and my answer was, "Yes, embrace it."  So I will.  But what was more interesting to me was as I looked at the paintings I bought for my house over the years they were all the same style that I paint just much more professional.  So actually I had already embraced the style.   I just didn't realize it.  Sometimes I am just too close to something to see it.  I am grateful that this week I decided to embrace my style as an artist.  That doesn't mean I won't try to get better.  It just means I will have a lot of fun painting while proudly owning my style.
What are you grateful for this week?

I am grateful for all the wonderful people I've met since I started blogging. I was just reviewing some posts and re-reading comments. I love the interaction, even if it is a distant one. I feel lucky to be around so many talented people!

BTW I love the way you paint:~)

Fascinating to discover something that you think is new to you has been affecting you for some time. I had a revelation like that once. Funny how I'd missed it before.

Lovely flowers and vase!

Thanks Ginny for commenting on my blog! That type of mixed media painting could be done, start to finish, in about 5 hours. You should follow the link on my page to Strathmore Workshops and what the video of Traci doing it... she's awesome!!!
Happy painting!

I think it's great to know your style and embrace it! I'm a big proponent of focusing on process -- there are so many great benefits to doing art beyond worrying about what the finished product will be. Your soft colors are really nice here!

Some people spend years in therapy to get to this understanding. Good for you. You have a happy creative style, and your love of life shows in each painting. Who could ask for more than that?

I actually painted in acrylics for the first time in ages this week, and it was a challenge... I love watercolours but it is good to push your self... I am grateful for many things this week... school started back here in Australia so I have been grateful for peace and quiet after two long months.... it has been bliss...xx

That is such a lovely piece. I love the softness of it and I think it is great that you are embracing your style! I don't think I know what mine is yet. : ) Still trying to figure that out. Gratitude is a wonderful thing. I am most grateful for my wonderful family.

Blessings,
Tricia

I like the paintings that look simple and uncontrived. They are beauty in its simplest form.

I hope you're still losing yourself in your painting and everything is okay? Be good to yourself.
