Friday's Special Moment of Gratitude

I am really enjoying painting a picture of the clouds and the sky each day.  I try to vary what I paint a little in each picture but without thinking about it, the central theme in all that I paint tends to stay the same.  I realize that I am ok with that.

I am learning how important my touch is with the pastel.  Too hard and my pastel is going to crumble. Too soft and I won't get the rich color I want.  I also am beginning to feel the difference in paper and I now realize how using the right paper can really make a big difference.

I am anxious to see what will happen when I complete 30 sky paintings in a row. It is something new for me and something that I am enjoying.

As I always  do on Friday, I want to share what I am most grateful for this week.  This week I have to admit I am grateful for something that may be considered superficial but I can't help it - I love convertible weather.  Today was the first day I was able to put my top down and I was ready. When I was a teenager many years ago my first car was a convertible.  I have always loved feeling both the sun and the wind on my face.  So today the sun was shining, the wind was blowing, and the top was down.  It was perfect!!

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend with perfect convertible weather.  Rumor has it that it is going to rain here again all weekend but I had my perfect day and I am sure there will be more.  I am linking this post to Paint Party Friday. It is a perfect way to start the weekend, with or without rain.

Remember:  When you share your dreams and talents with the world, magic happens.  Let the magic begin!

Wonderful clouds... a beautiful dreamy feel!! I'm the same as you I have always loved convertibles...I had a corvette for 10 years and a jeep for 19 years!! In fact my jeep is being restored as a vintage vehicle by an extended family member!! There is no feeling like driving with the top down...it's pure heaven and I was grateful every single time I could drive with the top down!! I have sunroof now...it's still nice! You go girl....ENJOY!!

I am really enjoying your sky pastels - the second one with the corn field is my favourite so far - the perspective is wonderful - you can really imagine the field is massive as it goes off into the middle distance!
Lucky you having convertible weather. I've never liked convertibles for the sole reason that the UK is really not the right country for them and whereas they are practical and wonderful in countries with hot climates, here they tend to be driven by pretentious folk who put the top down whether it's the weather for it or not - we saw a couple the other day driving along with the top down (bearing in mind that this is the north coast of Scotland!) and it had started to rain - they just looked silly. However, you do not and I am just jealous that I don't live somewhere that requires a convertible car during the summer months!! I hope you get plenty of convertible weather this year!

Your skies are great! Do you find yourself paying much closer attention to clouds now than before?

Thoughtful comments about your pastel work. I love the idea of your 30 paintings in 30 days. I hope you show them all at once some day. These are wonderful. Happy PPF

Convertible weather is the best, and you should celebrate it! I can just imagine you driving off into the countryside, with the beautiful blue sky above. I am enjoying your sky paintings, what a fun idea to paint a series. Happy weekend, my friend!

I like the last picture. I can see driving down the road with the wind in your hair and big smile on your face.

The idea of doing 30 sky painting sounds cool to me. I love the ones you put up with this post. While topic is the same, it varies so much picture to picture, which makes it all the more fascinating.

Perhaps you can plan a show:~)

love the painting of the clouds... great colours in there and convertible weather is fabulous... for us it is now cool enough to have the roof open and not get roasted so I have been driving with the sunroof open all week... xx

Love the clouds in your pastel paintings. The perspective on the second one is wonderful and I love the palette of the one on top. That convertible looks like fun!

Those pastel scenes are just lovely. I can see that you are enjoying this work - it shows. I am often grateful for those perfectly lovely days as well - even though I don't have a convertible. HPPF

Hi Ginny,

Those sky and clouds are so ethereal and quite magical. All very beautiful although I do have a favourite...the sunny field one draws me in, the clouds and sky make it all work into a beautiful dream.
Always wanted to paint a yellow field and I suppose it's because I read it and saw it in the movie and book "The Collector" and one summer the farmer down the road from us grew mustard, just breath taking!!!The fragrance was intoxicating! It inspired me to write a poem.

Keep painting the heavens, they come out different and unique every single time : )

Thanks for sharing.

p.s. enjoy the convertible weather. I always loved the Marianne Faithful song...."The Ballad of Lucy Jordan" an especially perfect song to listen to "while driving in a sports car with the warm wind in your hair" You can find the song on youtube. O,O
