Friday's Special Moment of Gratitude

Hold the Vision. Trust the Process. (Author unknown)
I love the above quote. And this week, I did exactly what the quote said to do.  I held my vision of what type of painter I want to become and I am trusting that through the process I will get there.  Today I had lots of fun painting the above picture.  Most of the time I have been trying to get everything just right.  For some reason, this time it didn't matter.  I used the wrong kind of paper, my old pastels, and my trees are what many of my teachers have told me not to paint - lollipop trees and yet when I look at the painting it makes me happy.  And that is what this all about - having fun and painting something that makes me happy.

It's almost Friday which means it is also time to reflect on what I am grateful for this week.  We have had a beautiful sunny week but the air is filled with pollen and everything is covered in it.  Tonight it rained and the pollen has been washed away.  I know that a lot of people will be feeling a lot better and for that I am very grateful.  I am also so grateful for the time I get to spend with my grandchildren.  Their smiles and their laughter light up the room and my heart.  It is amazing how much fun it is to play tag with a fifteen month old.  He laughs at everything we do and for that I am also very grateful.

I hope that you have had a wonderful week filled with simple but special moments.  If you would like to share one or two, I would love to hear about them.

I am linking this post to Paint Party Friday and Creative Every Day.  Please stop by and say "hello" to a very talented group of artists.

Well I happen to love your lollypop trees...and in fact there are a ton of magnolia trees in my neighbourhood that are just in bloom now and they look similar to these!! Beautiful....and if it makes you happy that's important!! I'm grateful daily for all the beauty and color around me, and the coffee or orange tea my son in law serves me..Happy ppf

I really like the soft colors in this painting and I love your trees. That's the great thing about our creativity, we have an artist's license to paint things as we see them.

I am grateful that I got to go out to lunch with my daughter on Sunday. We rarely get to see each other and it was so nice to be able to sit, talk, reminisce, laugh, etc.

we have trees here in Australia that are actual lollipop trees... they don't get blooms on them quite like that but the shape is right... we have 4 of them in our yard and I love them... so I am very partial to your trees in this one... and the quote is fabulous...
I am grateful that we have just had 6 nights at the beach and it was filled with books, cards and laughter.... and lots and lots of rain...xx

Love that quote! Your painting is so soft that it speaks of spring.
I am grateful for beauty in my life and the visit by a special friend today.

I've come to the conclusion that Art teachers are assholes. They do not teach you how to do things in your own style. They've only taught me to draw what my eyes see, not what my brain sees. Which can be a great thing. But at times when you want to paint your OWN way, you feel much anxiety... because you KNOW that's not what it looks like. At least, that's what happens to me.

beautifully written. i also love your trees! and i know what you mean from University art. but the colors on your trees are sensational and whimsical and wonderful! yes, once children are around the 15 to 18 month mark, for me, they turn into little cuties who just giggle and giggle and are miniature adults! i'm so glad you had fun with them. so all in all i love your painting and that you just let go of all the artistic "dumb ass rules" we all get caught up in!!!! lol my gratitude is that there was a family argument and i was able to hold my centre and "not go there". I was able to stay "me" and true to myself and come out of it unscathed. I felt Jesus was there watching over us...giving the lessons that were needed. I feel myself getting stronger in this regard and am "really really really" grateful! happy ppf. lovies, samara (p.s. i love your question...brilliant!)

Lovely lollipop trees -- seeing them made my eyes happy, and the quote is so good. Thanks for overcoming education and painting something so pretty and celebratory.

Lollipop trees? Consider me a fan of these - and forget what the teachers said. I like them - a lot. The painting is beautiful and speaks to me. This is a painting I'd like to own.

I love the lollipop trees. I had the same kind of epiphany during the last couple of weeks. Just enjoy and the rest will come. I also thought about how many famous artists do not paint the way their teachers taught them too. It's about following your artistic vision. And of course, loving your wonderful grandkids. HPPF

I think this is one of my favorite paintings of yours. I can really see your unique style coming through. I adore the trees. The entire landscape is so gentle and peaceful. I am grateful for all the beauty around me.
