Friday's Special Moment of Gratitude

It's Thanksgiving night and we have had a wonderful day.  We were lucky enough to spend the day with my son and his family.  As I get older it seems like each day is a little longer (I am grateful for that) but the years seem to fly by.  I don't quite understand it but I accept that is the way life is, at least for me.  I treasure each day and each holiday that I get to spend with my family and friends.
For the past several years I have chosen a word for the year.  It's been fun and it has helped me to focus on what I wanted to accomplish.  This year I chose the word trust.  It has proven to be a great word.  When you like to control things its not easy to always trust that things will turn out as they should.  But, as I have learned to let go this year, I have also learned that a little trust will go a long way.  So this week, as I begin to reflect upon the past year and all that I have accomplished, I am also beginning to think about which word I will choose to guide me through 2013.  As I think about all of the words that I have to choose from, I am going to give myself time to settle in on the perfect one.  I have learned to trust that I don't have to always have the answer to a question right away.  If I give myself time and space, the answer will come to me.  So in continuing my Friday gratitude practice, the thing that I am most grateful for is that this year I chose the word trust as my word for the year.  It helped me to open doors that I didn't even know were closed.  Won't you join me in thinking about a word that you would like to use to guide you through 2013?   It's really fun and it can be exciting to find out where just one little word can take you.

Beautiful and peaceful picture. Thank you for sharing. I definitely join you in thinking about the word for 2013. It is great idea. I have never had my word for 2012 but I think it would be healing. You wrote so beautifully about trust and letting go. Thank you for sharing your creativity and wisdom.

I love your painting. It definitely feels like a wintry road. Do you have snow and wind where you are today? Hum, boy?? only one word. I will try to trust, simplify,be patient, let go of anger? That is tough! Thank you for your wisdom.

Beautiful peaceful winter painting!! Love it! My word this year was " Nourish" I wanted to nourish my art which I am happy to say I did!! The year before was "Ask." Trust is my issue I have faith but have difficulty trusting... My word usually appears closer to the end of the year!! I usually post about it too!! Happy ppf!

Lovely winter-landscape! Nice cool colors. I think it's a great idea to have a word for each year. I thought it would be difficult to find one word but the first thing that came up in my mind is "believe". Believe in possibilities, believe in your dreams, don't give up even when it looks as if it's not going to happen .... Yeah, that's going to be my word for 2013! thnx for the inspiration ☺

Oh, Ginny, that is such a beautiful winter scene! Love it! I agree that there is so much power in choosing a word to guide us through the year. I've been doing it for several years now and it's really helped me in many ways. This year's word is MOVE -- I was thinking it would never happen -- but here I am in my new house!

Ginny, I am so grateful that my NJ family did not endure anything other than a couple of days without electricity as the aftermath of Sandy. Everyone is safe and very thankful for that during this Thanksgiving holiday.
I already have a word for 2013 and it is "balance". More about that later.

Your painting is lovely. I like to choose my word of the year early too, I like to have it resonate a little, but I am struggling a bit finding my 2013 word. Great post!

I usually choose a word each year also. I find it in a charm and hang it over my work to remind me. . . then I put the charms together to wear. The painting brings back those snowy, icy days. Blessings, Janet PPF
