Friday's Special Moment of Gratitude

Stop. Breathe. Allow yourself the luxury of doing nothing for a moment, or an hour, or
even a day.  It is in emptiness that inspiration will appear.
Carole Katchen

It's really fun to paint a picture and stand back and look at it.  Then it's fun to put it on the computer and again stand back and look at it.  Paintings look different in daylight than they do at night.  They look different when they are framed and hanging on the wall and they look different on the computer. As I learn to look and really see, it amazes me how one painting can take on so many different looks.  This painting is almost finished but not quite.  I think just a few more details and I will be finished.  I am learning to slow down and really look at my paintings just as I am continuing to learn what it means to slow down and appreciate and enjoy my life.

Each Friday I take a minute to reflect upon what I am grateful for. It amazes me how the list is almost always the same. But this list is a great reminder to me to take the time to thank the people that are important to me and who make a difference in my life and the lives of my family members.  My list reminds me to take time each day to enjoy the sunshine or the rain.  It reminds me to look at the sky and to stop and smell the freshly mowed grass and look at the beautiful new flowers.  My list is rarely about big trips or new purchases.  Those things are great but they don't happen often.  It is the simple things that happen day after day that really make life special.  And those are the things that I am most grateful for this week.
What are you grateful for this week?

I love your painting, it's so restful and makes me want to be there. I really needed to read that quote this week. I'm grateful that I stopped by and that you shared it with us! Happy PPF!

Too many things to write down all of them. But the most important ones are my amazing family and friends, health and being alive. Thinking about the things we are grateful for is important. It's the way to go for focusing on the really important things. Happy PPF!

This is so dreamy and soft I love it. And I am always surprised by how different paintings look depending on what perspective I am looking at it from. So many differences from a single image.

This looks like somewhere I'd like to be. Really pretty and tranquil - a lovely piece. I'm thankful this week for surprising things that come out of the blue and for the universe that seems to be conspiring for things to work out the way we hope!!

Paintings look different after time too. The paintings I finished months ago that I'd put away look so much better now. I think I'm seeing them through new eyes, eyes that haven't agonized over which bits to change and which bits work! This is lucky for me as I have an exhibition to hang this time next week. :)
What am I grateful for? I am grateful to have an artist friend who is sharing the show with me, halfing the stress and nerves! ;)

I am grateful I have another day on Earth, and that my body allows me to move and experience the beauty around us. What a wonderful scene you painted -- so peaceful!

I really love the soft bright colors you have used on this and on your last piece. They are so hopeful and comforting and just basically happy. I'd have to hang these two pieces where I could see them first thing every morning.

I agree we see our art differently in different lights, times of day, and even days later...This one is lovely and would look beautiful framed on a wall.
I am grateful for the past three days I had my twin grandkids visiting here and making art with me.

This one is a beauty. So true how paintings look so different on the computer screen. I use that as a tool for me - seems like I can really see where I need to make corrections once I see it on my computer. Happy PPF

Nice piece. Lazy looking. I could be there just kicking back on the grass and looking up at the sky with all those beautiful clouds. Thanks. Nice job.

I know what you mean about paintings changing, depending on when you look at them--

I'm grateful for my new granddaughter and that I can live so close to her and her family...among MANY other things. Your painting is very serene and laid back. I often hang a piece on my design board and look at it for awhile before realizing what needs to be done next. Yours looks wonderful as it is.

What a great reminder for me today! I had been making space for more stillness in my life but now that school has started up again for me I fell back into old habits. I need to get that space back so my creativity flows more freely. Love the colors in your sky and the way they define the clouds!
