Friday's Special Moment of Gratitude

People do not quit playing because they grow old.
They grow old because they quit playing.
                   Oliver Wendell Holmes

This week I decided it was time to play.  I spent time just playing with my new pastels and seeing which ones I really liked and which ones were not so much fun to use.  It turns out that the ones I like the best are not the cheapest but they are definitely not the most expensive.  As a person who tends to be very serious, it was fun to just relax and have fun with what I was doing.  I have a feeling I will be doing a lot more of this.  So this week I am very grateful that I took some time just to play and maybe grow just a little bit younger at the same time.

What are you most grateful for this week?

I have linked this post to Paint Party Friday a special place where artists
meet each week to share what they have created.

How wonderful you gave yourself time to play! It is what helps keep us young (love that quote!) Very cool drawing... I hope we see more of your pastel work. Happy PPF!

Playing is food for the soul I think. :) I am most grateful this week for good friends and the time to create.

I try to play as much as I can with art. But, I wish I will do it more often in my life. I will be stress free... I think.
Beautiful quote and draw.

Pastel can be a lot of fun! My favorites are the really soft buttery ones in any brand! I just had to buy a set of Nupastels for an upcoming workshop in Door County ,WI at The Clearing Folk School. I usually use soft pastels all the way through, but the instructor said i should be starting with hard and moving to soft toward the end...Boo Hiss! :-)

Playing is very important. I take my play time seriously. LOL I do!
Love your pastel piece and discovery that mid level pastels did the trick the very best. Nice to know. Great quote.

I love dandelion clocks - there's something so delicate about them. I haven't used pastels since art class at school (way back in time!) but you've made me want to give it a go again!

The right supplies can make all the difference! You drew one of my favorite flowers-and the play shows!! I am grateful that I get to make mistakes in my art- to experiment and explore.

I think playing is the most important thing EVER, so good for you.

Which brand of pastels did you like the best? I want to know!
