I'm stuck! I know that there are lots of things I could do to make this pastel better but I don't know what to do. So I am going to take it with me on Monday to my class and see what they suggest. Or if you see something that you think would help, I am open to all suggestions. And that is what I am grateful for this week. I have gotten to the point where I am not embarassed to let others see what I am creating before it is finished or when it is finished. I am becoming more confident in what I am doing and what is most important I am having fun doing it. I used to think a lot about painting or taking pictures but now instead of thinking about it I am really doing it. For that I am very grateful.

I think pastel is a great medium for you. This is looking really good. I love the blues.

I like how you have handed the mountains, but I think it just doesn't look as polished as other pieces that you do... I think it stands well as it is, but your work always looks very complete to me... maybe you could try more contrast between the lights and darks... that is the best and most used tip I got from many years of art school.. strengthening the change in tone often brings it together... good luck and I look forward to seeing what you do with it... have a great week

I like the simplicity of this painting. How serene it is. Kudos to you for being brave in working and showing your work to us. Don't be too harsh with yourself. Keep painting! :)

Love the composition and color in this. It is always good to leave your work and come back to it a few days later. It clears the cobwebs (as does a good teacher). Happy PPF

i really like the subject matter for this and the way the light is dancing off the grasses in the foreground. i don't work in pastels but maybe creating more of a focal point in the piece would help bring it together. maybe darkening the bottom of the mountains and letting the lake come through a bit more? it's lovely as it is-- very soft...

I think all of your pastels are so pretty, this one included. They are very calming to look at. I am glad you are going to be painting along this month!

Your confidence shows! I love so much about this- the blades of grass, the colors in the water, and the vibrant blue sky to name a few. My gratitude this week is for learning a life lesson that has been painful but one I need to learn.

Pastels intimidate me, so I admire anyone who can handle them this well! I like it a lot, but I agree with Tracey that you may more pleased with more contrast, especially where the water and mountains meet. And maybe more texture detail on the closer mountains and less on the further away mountains? Humble observations...mx

Another great landscape! Maybe your mountains need a little darkness for definition at the base, right where the grass would end, and the upward slope would start? That's what I would try, but only after leaving it for a bit to see how you like it later.

I like how it's flowing so far. I'm not good at pastels, so can't really offer advice, but look forward to seeing how you finish this painting. Happy PPF!

Ginny you are taking off! Your paintings are like a blast of fresh air, I can feel the out doors in them and the light playing in this one is beautiful, so happy you are enjoying and growing in confidence! I'm grateful this week for small lessons and being able to admit to mistakes made. There has been a lot of talk going on with my boys about joining a football club, my husband and I are more for the martial arts...so we have had a little friction over this, still I want to guide them and be open to them too...we are learning to strike the right balance. I feel this is just the start now they start to get a little older wanting to make their own decisions. It's about guiding as smooth as we can. Ginny enjoy your week-end and week to come xx

I like it already, but if it was mine I'd probably be reaching for my coloured pencils to pull out some detailing in the foreground and maybe strengthen the distinction between lake and mountain. I'm not very good at just using one media in my art!!
