Friday's Special Moment of Gratitude

As most of you know by now each Friday I write about what I am grateful for that week.  I believe that life is different when we focus on the positive and it is a practice that I like to share with others.  There are some weeks where everything looks bright and sunny and then there are the times that you have to look a little harder to see that bright sunny spot.  This week has had lots of special moments but there have  been lots of trying times as well.  My husband had surgery yesterday (scary) but everything went smoothly which is something to be very grateful for.  We are having construction done at our house which means lots of noise and lots of inconvenience but the workers have been wonderful and considerate which is something else to be very grateful for.  Then last night our dog decided to go for a walk by herself.  Actually, it was a run by herself but I was able to catch her when she stopped to visit our neighbors and get every dog in the neighborhood barking.  I guess the bright spot was that it was dark and noone could see who was causing all of the commotion.  So to be truthful this morning I was tired.  I was in the backyard, taking a breath, when I looked to my left.  If you stand just in the right spot at the right time of year, from my yard you can see a quiet peaceful pond two streets over.  This morning I was lucky enough to stand in the right spot at the right time.  I was able to see and enjoy the pond without leaving my backyard.  It is this type of unexpected  moment that I find so special.  I have learned that even in the midst of stress I can always find a peaceful place, person, or minute if I take the time to look for it!  I am very grateful for that knowledge.
I have been working on the painting above for Paint Party Friday this week.  It is not finished but I have enjoyed working on it.  Whether I am looking at water, lucky enough to be in it, or painting it, it always makes me feel better.
I would love to know what you are most grateful for this week?

Lovely, lovely painting, Ginny! So peaceful. You have such a positive attitude that gets you through the difficult times. I'm happy to read that your husband is doing well -- best wishes for a quick return to good health. How lucky to find your dog so quickly.

The trees are all starting to blossom here - very early - and I am enjoying the beautiful flowers. Have a good weekend. xo

Your painting is beautiful and serene, Ginny. Yes, those moments are so special....we have much to be grateful for. I hope your hubby makes a full and fast recovery from his surgery. I'm also glad you were able to retrieve your dog without too many problems.

Have a blissful weekend,

Water is magical for me too! Love how you did the far side of the water - so many gentle shades to create the topography.

Calm and peaceful and inviting. I was just reading in a blog about a man who got into a car accident and because he survived, he started carrying around red balloons every friday to celebrate one more week of being alive! Just got reminded of it because of your post. I am grateful for for so many things. I write it down in my journal. When you realize that we shouldn't take things for granted, not even the small things, we become happier people. Patsy from <br /><a href="http://patsypat.blogspot.com"

Whoa...I'm glad to know everything is okay with your husband. Surgery is scary and it really hard on the loved ones who wait.

I marvel at your ability to not get mired down in difficulties, but to continue to pull yourself up with your words of gratitude. I don't always find this easy and you set a good example.

The picture you're working is one of my favorites. It's a very peaceful picture. I sighed contentedly as I looked at it. It was needed to today...so thank you:~)

Hi Ginny,
Nice to meet you. Glad to hear your husband is okay and wish him a speedy recovery. Your water landscape is truly serene and soothing to the eye and viewing it gives the very positive vibes.
I am thankful for everyday and for having my family by my side; the bonus is seeing and experiencing all the nature that surrounds us....we should all never lose sight of that for even gloomy weather has it's very own beauty for us to enjoy and be in sired by.
