When you share you dreams and your talent with the world, magic happens. Let the magic begin!
Yesterday I was talking to two different coaches and friends at different times of the day. As I reflected upon both of the conversations, I realized the topic of habits or creating rituals came up with both. There is a quote (I don't have the whole quote or the person who wrote it) but it says that we get our greatest pleasures in life from our habits. I've been thinking a lot about whether that is true or not and I've come to the conclusion that it depends on the habit. I get a great deal of pleasure from writing this blog which until recently had become something I did three times a week. When I get into a routine or a habit of exercising I enjoy it but it has to be a routine before that happens. Do I get a lot of pleasure out of watching TV every night after dinner. Not really. It's a habit just something that I do. Which led me to think about my habits. Which ones are giving me pleasure? Which ones are done without thinking, to fill time or a void in my life? Which ones need to go? Which ones need to be strengthened? I've decided that for me habits are good. They provide structure and consistency and yes pleasure to my day and therefore my life. I've decided to become more conscious of the habits that I am forming and am going to become very aware of what is bringing joy into my life and what is just something that I do because I have always done it. Have you ever thought about your habits? Are there any you need to let go of? Which ones bring you happiness? I hope that today you will take a few minutes to think about the importance of the habits in your life.

I always enjoy visiting your blog, Ginny, and getting inspiration and food for thought. Habits do give us structure and routine, which I like in my life. However, I don't want to be too rigid and inflexible either -- it's finding the balance that is challenging. Of course there are good and bad habits.....I keep telling myself that having a piece of chocolate every afternoon is good.

This post made me think. Over the years, my habits have adjusted and some have disappeared, while others developed. I think I mentioned this on another post, but my newest habit is beginning and ending my day with my hubby, sitting on our porch. We do this rain or shine and it's a nice time to catch up about either what our day will bring or what happened during out day.
