Recently when talking to a group of teachers the question was asked, "What gives you energy?" People started listing the normal things we all think of: coffee, coke, etc.. Then there was a quiet whisper, "A compliment gives me energy." As everyone stopped to think about this, they all agreed a compliment not only makes you feel good but it can give you lots of energy. So during this holiday season when people often feel tired, why not give the people you see a simple but energizing gift? Give a compliment that comes from the heart and see what happens!

I always come to your blog to see your Sunday Sketches paintings because they are always so lovely and tranquil. I also find the words you write so inspiring. Today I sat down with my coffee and went to the beginning of your blog because I'm feeling stuck. With the new year I get so excited because I feel it's a time I can make positive changes. I want to do that but as I said, I'm feeling stuck...overwhelmed by how far I am away from where I want to be (even though I'm not 100% sure where that is). I don't know why this is the blog post that I feel the need to comment about this on but as I read it I clicked on the comment button. Maybe because I really understand what you are saying here...it only takes a few kind, heartfelt words to make someones day. I also find that when you give those truthful comments you and your energy feel wonderful too. So even though I'm at a section of your blog that is 4 years old, I wanted to thank you for sharing your insights, wisdom and talent. I plan on reading right to the most current post and maybe checking out the library for The Joy Diet.
